Got stuck and hard to open.

First off when i tried to open it to put it in it was too hard too easily open with my hands and i had to use pliers as well as when i was closing it. now the captive bead? i'm sure there's a better way than trying to perfectly close the ring, While using pliers, on the holes in the bead where it just sits. i ended up ditching the bead but then 3 days after putting the ring in, it got stuck. The edges were too rough and scratched the inside of my piercing causing it to swell and gets stuck.
