Your Daith Piercing Confusions: Migraine and Weight Loss

When we decide to have a daith piercing, we surely have some confusions, like the daith piercing works good for migraine or weight loss?

So many people talk about these topics that you have no other choices but want to know if this is reality or not?

We have collect and analyze the points from doctor, the American and Europe doctor, also the doctor of traditional Chinese medicine, the piercers, we also read all the posts published by healtholine, MedicalNewsToday, the byrdie, we do such huge work just want to know the truth.

Whether the daith piercing will work for some physical disease, such as the migraine, the headache, the vertigo and so on.

Below is the result we get after this research.

Daith Piercing for Migraine

It is obviously that the daith piercing do not work on migraine.

Let’s first know what is migraine and why this happen.

Migraine is a neurological condition that can cause multiple symptoms. It’s frequently characterized by intense, debilitating headaches. Symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, difficulty speaking, numbness or tingling, and sensitivity to light and sound. Migraines often run in families and affect all ages. (refer from healthline)

What causes migraines?

Researchers haven’t identified a definitive cause for migraines. However, they have found some contributing factors that can trigger the condition. This includes changes in brain chemicals, such as a decrease in levels of the brain chemical serotonin.
Other factors that may trigger a migraine include:
  • bright lights

  • severe heat, or other extremes in weather

  •  dehydration

  • changes in barometric pressure

  • hormone changes in women, such as estrogen and progesterone fluctuations during menstruation, pregnancy, or menopause

  • excess stress

  • loud sounds

  • intense physical activity

  • skipping meals

  • changes in sleep patterns

  • use of certain medications, such as oral contraceptives or nitroglycerin

  • unusual smells

  • certain foods

  • smoking

  • alcohol use

  • Traveling

We can get the conclusion that migraine is due to the internal neurological condition, and can be triggered by some external factors.

Then we come to find what is the daith piercing.

We all know the daith piercing is use the piercing needle to puncture through the daith part. It is a body modification behavior, but why is related with migraine?

This is associated with the acupuncture therapy.

As we all know, the traditional Chinese medicine has the acupoint and acupuncture therapy.

They believe the ear has up to 91 points that corresponding to the whole body, through the action of massage, pinch, rub, acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine can help to keep the body healthy, cure the disease or release the body pain.

For the acupuncture therapy, you should first know the acupuncture point distribution, and then use the special needle, do the puncture with regulated strength regularly. Obviously, it is not just a single piercing can work. So the daith piercing won’t work for as the acupuncture therapy.

Even the daith piercing can not do well on migraine, you can do some to prevent the migraine. First, find the trigger factors of your migraine, then pay more attention to these trigger factors in the daily life. This can help to prevent the migraine.

Also, if you are interested, you can do some reading about traditional Chinese acupoint and do some massage with your hands to keep your body healthy.

Daith piercing for weight loss

Daith piercing can do help for weight loss, this is said there are some acupoints in the ear that corresponding to the stomach, through work on these acupoints can make the stomach feel the satiety and then reduce the food quantity.

In theory, it is possible, especially in traditional Chinese acupuncture therapy. As we have talked before, this therapy need a long regular puncture, the strength and the location is accurately measured by the experienced acupuncturist.

So this is not good method for weight loss, let’s image, if this method can help, so there will be lots of people in a queue before the piercing studio, the fitness room will be empty. In reality, this is not true.

We should pay more attention to the exercise and diet for weight loss, this is the healthy weight loss method and no side effects.

I used to get migraines a few times a week. I take Sumatriptan and have to be careful with being dehydrated or over heated. Since getting both daith piercings I do not have migraines as intensely or as often.
